SUNDAY, 12 MARCH 2006

- Her Majesty, The Queen of Australia, and the Duke of Edinburgh arrive in Australia to attend the 2006 Commonwealth Games and undertake other various functions. [View Arrival Clip - 7.7 MB]

MONDAY, 13 MARCH 2006

- AM: Her Majesty The Queen of Australia and The Duke of Edinburgh attend a ceremonial welcome at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt. [View Opera House Clip - 6.8 MB]

  • Her Majesty will receive a 21 Gun Salute and inspect the Guard of Honour.

  • Her Majesty will also receive a welcome from Indigenous Leaders.

  • Her Majesty, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will open the new Western Colonnade of the Sydney Opera House.

    - Later in the day: Her Majesty The Queen of Australia, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will attend a Commonwealth Day Observance at St Andrew's Cathedral (This will be the first time the observance has been held outside London).

    - Later in the day: His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, attends a reception in Sydney to commemorate the Duke of Edinburgh Awards established 50 years ago.

    TUESDAY, 14 MARCH 2006

    - Her Majesty The Queen of Australia and the Duke of Edinburgh will meet with members of the ACT Emergency Services, including personnel who fought the bushfires in Canberra in January 2003.     WEDNESDAY, 15 MARCH 2006

    - AM: Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visit Melbourne, Victoria for the Commonwealth Games.

  • PM: His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will visit the Royal Society of Victoria where he will meet polar expeditionists and launch the International Polar Year.

  • Evening: Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh visit the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) where the Queen will officially declare the Commonwealth Games open and read her message from the Queen's baton.

  • Her Majesty The Queen of Australia will attend the swimming heats on the first day of competition at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

  • His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will watch a Rugby Sevens match as well as badminton and squash matches.

  • Her Majesty The Queen of Australia and the Duke of Edinburgh will tour the Athletes' Village and lunch with athletes.
